We’re joined by Sharonjit Kaur, Campaign Executive at Mitchells and Butlers to discuss her experience with Sarah Tapley and Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment.
 

How did you first come in contact with Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment or Sarah Tapley? 

In the beginning, Sarah contacted me through LinkedIn after noticing that I was open to new job opportunities. She reached out to me regarding a CRM position, which she thought would be a good fit for me.
 

As a candidate working with agencies, what were your initial expectations? 

I've talked to a bunch of recruiters during my job search - some who approached me, and others that I reached out to. Unfortunately, prior to speaking with Sarah, my experience with recruitment agencies had been largely negative. In fact, I was hesitant to respond to her at first due to my low expectations. However, I am grateful that Sarah was able to provide me with a positive experience and remind me of the proper way recruitment should be handled.

How would you describe Sarah?

She is authentic, honest, trustworthy, and understanding. She has excellent communication skills and always has your best interest at heart. Working with her was a breath of fresh air, and I always enjoyed speaking with her.

What made Sarah stand out? 

She has a talent for making a long and sometimes complicated process simple and easy to understand. One thing that stood out to me from our very first phone call was her authenticity and passion for her work. She didn't rush through the job description, and it was clear that she genuinely cared about finding the right fit for me. 
 
Throughout the entire process, Sarah was open, honest, and really took the time to listen to my needs and preferences. I loved that she didn't oversell the position and was transparent about the role requirements, company culture, and needs. She was also very responsive and kept me updated on the number of applicants and any delays she was experiencing when booking interviews. 
 
One thing I really appreciated about Sarah was her willingness to share company names and other important information right from the start. In previous years, I've had experiences with recruiters who were more reluctant to do so, so it was refreshing to work with someone who was so forthcoming. 
 
Another thing that made Sarah stand out was her request for a small paragraph about myself. She went into depth about the company and job requirements, which made it much easier for me to understand what they were looking for. As a result, my statement was much more authentic and inspired than if I had just read the job description and put something together. Overall, Sarah's understanding of a person's needs, responsiveness, and willingness to share information made the recruitment process a positive experience for me. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a job!

What is the best advice Sarah has given you?

Sarah shared a lot of good practices with me, things that should be expected but sometimes fall through the cracks, such as thanking the interviewers for their time at the end of an interview. She also provided a lot of insight into the hiring process and the managers in the company, which showed that she had a great relationship with them. 
 
During the recruitment process, Sarah was incredibly helpful and supportive. She gave me interview tips and shared experiences from other candidates in similar roles that had helped. It felt like she was a friend rooting for me to get the job rather than just a recruiter looking for a fee. Whenever I was unclear about anything, I could always reach out and contact Sarah, and she was always happy to help. 
 
Thanks to Sarah's guidance and support, I felt well-prepared when I started the job. She provided me with all the information I needed, and her words painted a clear picture of what I could expect in the role. The job has mirrored what she said, and I feel like I made a great decision in taking this position. Even after I started working, Sarah has continued to manage the relationship with me. 
 
We have general catch-ups, but it's not excessive, which is exactly what I would expect from an agency. It has been nice to have her check in on me, and her relationship with me feels genuine. As a recruiter with many candidates to manage, Sarah does an excellent job of keeping in contact and making me feel valued.

Could Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment or Sarah have done anything to improve your experience?

Sarah did an excellent job, and I honestly can't think of anything she could have done to improve my experience. It was such a positive experience that I wanted to share my feedback. What stood out to me was Sarah's passion, interest, and care when communicating with me. It was clear that she wasn't just doing a job but truly cared about finding the right fit for me.
 
If I had to make a recommendation, it would be to ensure that everyone at Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment gives the same level of professionalism and enthusiasm as Sarah. She sets the bar high!
