CASE STUDY: SUCCESSION PLANNING

THE CHALLENGE

Company in the insurance sector. It is in the process of Digital Transformation, which is why it was decided to count on the collaboration of Morgan Philips to cover the needs associated with a Succession Plan project for the first level of management.

A proposal is requested for the review and update of the company's Succession Plan, which follows a Role Based Organisation Model.

HOW WE HELPED

First, Morgan Philips conducted the assessment of a pre-defined set of participants previously identified by members of the Management Committee and with the success profile determined by the company. The approximate number of people was between 15 and 20 and an individual assessment was conducted in two phases:

Online tests: Through the Pulse® On-line solution, two different tests were applied.

  • BAQ Professional Preferences Questionnaire.
  • MDQ Motivational Factors Questionnaire.

Individual interviews:

  • Interview by competencies: Aimed at identifying the extent to which each candidate has demonstrated the competencies defined in the success profile.
  • Experiential and motivational interview: Focused on the background, successes and responsibilities of each person as well as their professional motivations.
  • From the integration of the results of the different activities described in the evaluation process, Morgan Philips prepared an individualised report for each participant. In this report, the main strengths and areas for improvement were presented, as well as the potential gaps with respect to the defined success profile. Finally, a presentation of the results of the profiles was made to the Human Resources Management and CEO.
  • The process ended with a feedback session between the consultant and the participant to discuss the results obtained and to guide future development actions.

THE IMPACT

The objectives that were achieved through this project were:

  • To provide a solid and contrasted evaluation methodology.
  • To ensure the suitability of the candidates to the defined success profiles.
  • To generate a positive participant experience with regard to the process.
  • Manage the expectations of the different stakeholders through relevant and timely communication messages.
